Heated discussions have erupted on Chinese social media over the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, with 470 million views on the online topic.
People lined up an hour before the show began for a ticket worth 350,000 yuan ($52,750).
The show featured a portion called “Porcelain Angel” for Chinese audiences, which was praised by Chinese audiences as the “best part of this year’s show.”
Many Chinese celebrities also attended the show, including Wang Sicong, son of China’s richest man, who stood during the whole show reportedly because he arrived late and could not find a seat.
The topic with hashtag “2017Victoria’s Secret” attracted 470 million views on Sina Weibo, the Chinese micro-blogging platform, as of Tuesday morning.
Among the most discussed topics, the tumbling of Chinese model Xi Mengyao and the expensive entrance ticket attracted the most attention.
The 28-year-old model slipped Monday while walking during the “Winter’s Tale” portion. Xi handled the fall gracefully, readjusting her costume and getting back on her feet in seconds.
Many Chinese netizens encouraged Xi, saying that “you’re the best” and “you are the bravest.”
“I’ve watched the video of her slipping more than 200 times, and I felt sorry for her,” netizen Ethan-007 said.
